Weekend Work

The weekend is the best part of the week, right?  No need to wake up early, no commute to work, and no 9-5 taking up the best part of our day.  We have an abundance of free time to relax and be lazy, sleeping in then watching TV while we lounge on the couch.  Maybe we finished off the work week with a happy hour at a local restaurant with co-workers and all shared our relief that the week is done, which is not complete without a "TGIF" post on your Instagram.

I consider myself quite lucky to walk into work each day and look forward to the tasks I have ahead of me and the opportunity I have to take my company to another level.  To me, as the National Sales Manager, the growth and development that I can influence an a daily basis is both purposeful and inspiring.  I recognize that this may not be a sentiment shared by everyone while they go to work each day, usually helping someone else achieve their goals, but that's a topic for another post.

Now, its Saturday.  Undoubtedly, there's plenty to get done around the house, we have plans with friends, and spend much needed time with the ones closest to us.  If you have kids (I do not), there are plenty of activities to rush them off to or activities planned as a family.  The weekend can be a busy time as well, and sometimes we get to work Monday wondering where the time went.  It seems like we were just posting that "TGIF" update on social media and were getting ready to celebrate the weekend.  No matter your satisfaction with your 9-5 job, the weekend is an incredible time to continue "working".  In these limited hours, however, its important to work on YOU!

It's important to maximize the way you spend these hours to make improvements in your life.  What goals do you have?  What can you do during these hours to get into the deep work that can take you even one step closer to those goals?  Make no mistake, we should be revisiting these goals and working towards them during the week and the weekend is a time to be even more focused and efficient in working on our projects.  For me, its working on health, wealth, and relationships.

As I type this first ever blog post, I am excited to be sharing my ideas and putting my thoughts out there.  Having a a blog is not a goal of mine, much less a successful one.  This helps me work on clarifying my thoughts, figure out where I am headed, and give me an opportunity to focus my mind on the personal business opportunities I am working to develop.  I try to keep a somewhat regular schedule, get my blog post complete, then head to the gym to start my Saturday.  Since I don't need to be up early or commute to work, I can pay more attention to these activities and be more deliberate in each.  When I mention deep work, this is my approach to the important activities.

Sleeping in an extra hour is important to refresh your body and mind.  So is the gym or favorite fitness routine, for the same reason. And doing a big, healthy grocery shopping, getting ready for next week with laundry and meal prep.  Its a great time to relax and have a couple of nice (big) meals to refuel your workout and healthy lifestyle.  We also need to spend uninterrupted time with the friends and family we love.  Yes, its a busy schedule and important to spend time specifically and deliberately on what matter MOST!  Take this time to recharge, plan, and take action on your goals so that when Monday comes, you're entering the week as an improved person with a refocus on the things that are most important to you.

I know that when I wake up on Monday morning at 5 am to go to the gym, that Ill be well rested, which is incredibly important to our physical and mental health.  It gives us the energy we need to stay sharp, keep stress levels low, and to jump into the new week with energy, positivity, and motivation!  I've spent more time reading and reflecting, spent time on developing my blog and personal business.  I've had more focused workouts, taken the time to cook healthy meals to recover, and replenish myself in all aspects personally.  My breakfasts and lunches are prepped for the week and I am ready to hit the ground running.  I've taken advantage of not being rushed in any way, spending just a little more time on the important pieces of my day and working on my own projects uninterrupted.  When Monday comes, not only am I ready and motivated--I know that I've moved closer to so many of my goals with deep, meaningful progress!

Have a productive weekend, have fun, and enjoy yourself!
